Not a good start to the day.I slipped on the ramp outside
the hotel with t my left leg under me and flat on my back. Got up with difficulty
and went into the foyer and laid down for a while to recover my dignity and
ease the pains, particularly the back. Filed a hand written report and then
left for our river cruise which was most enjoyable.
Started at the Westminster
Abbey pier and cruised in the open top deck boat to Greenwich. Had a meander in
town, with a coffee. Pauline had to tell them how to make an Iced coffee! Must
be a lost art as there would have been no call for these for the last six years
because of no summer weather. Got off at the Tower pier and walked to St Paul's,
only to find it closed for a rehearsal. Indeed a bitter pill to swallow as our
guide book had warned us that there were occasional rehearsals which closed off
the sightseeing tours.
Hopped on the underground and went to Leicester square
Station and walked to Trafalgar Square, had a bite to eat at “Pret A Manger”
where we went on Saturday, their food is excellent.
At this point we couldn’t be bothered trying to fit in
anything else using the London Pass, it was just too hectic. So we went for a
stroll, stopped at a church market, unfortunately not in the direction we had
intended. The knee was starting to give me quite some grief, so off home on the
tube on a quite warm day, ran out of water on the train and everyone was
sweating. That shower was so welcome when we got home.
